Tiny House News is still early, but the website is starting to become more than a homepage. It is turning into a guide, a notebook, a research library, an artwork gallery, and a set of practical tools for people thinking seriously about affordable housing, tiny homes, co-ops, land, work, and local action.
A good place to start is the homepage. The site now opens with the main Tiny House News idea: finding a path to affordable housing. The first version had placeholder buttons, but those have now become real directions: The 2026 Conference and Goals For 2027 & 2028. The homepage also links into the main housing pathways: Tiny House Pathways, Shared Housing Co-ops, Worker Co-ops for Income, and Pay-It-Forward Assistance.
One of the most useful things to try is the Pay-It-Forward Assistance calculator. This took a few rounds to get right. At first it worked, but it was too tall and felt more like a long form than a simple tool. Then we tightened it up, added a percentage slider, and made the whole calculator easier to understand at a glance. Now you can compare current rent, a lower housing cost, monthly savings, and a voluntary pay-it-forward amount.
The site also has a growing set of portal-style pages. Housing gathers housing-related pathways. Work points toward worker co-ops, skills and retraining, remote jobs, and volunteer or internship possibilities. Co-op gathers co-op-related topics, including worker co-ops, lower prices, advertising co-ops, utility co-ops, and grocery co-ops. Multimedia opens into the Video Guide, Artwork, Deep Research, and Music. There is also now an Aerospace page, because the larger Tiny House News imagination includes everything from telescopes and kites to flying cars, space jobs, moon bases, and Mars bases.
The Artwork page has become one of the most fun parts of the site. It now has two carousels of Tiny House News images, and the large pop-up view has left and right arrows so visitors can browse the artwork without closing the image each time. That page also took iteration: some placeholder/vector-style images had to be removed and replaced with the actual generated artwork. Be sure to browse both carousels. The last image in Carousel 02 is a special treat.
The Goals For 2027 & 2028 page is beginning to show where the project is headed. One important 2027 goal is to create digital materials for a seminar series that local people could host in their own communities. These events might include local and regional guests, in-person panels, town hall Q&A, product demos, tiny house and ADU discussions, co-op presentations, and practical conversations about housing pathways. One planned free brochure is called Tiny House: The One For You.
There is also a Deep Research section. The first report is the Tiny Houses Research Report, which looks at tiny house links, outreach, creators, sponsors, organizations, and historical events in the tiny house movement. That report is also visible from the Blog. We had to clean up the research flow so the preview cards on the Blog and Deep Research pages use the same button language, while the actual PDF download happens on the report page itself.
The homepage coast-to-inland banner also became interactive. On desktop, it can flip over to show a U.S. map view. On mobile, the behavior is different: visitors are sent toward All Listings, which will eventually collect participating projects, opportunities, places, and resources as they choose to be listed on Tiny House News.
The Contact page is also starting to take shape. It is meant to be more than a basic contact page. It is a place for people to share opportunities, resources, questions, interview ideas, seminar-hosting interest, and ways to get involved. And because the site is getting bigger, there is now a Sitemap, linked from the Links page, to help visitors understand how the pieces connect.
The Deconstruct Series page points toward another developing part of the project: rethinking homes, offices, neighborhoods, and cities so they can become more affordable, cooperative, and human-centered.
So far, this website has been built through a lot of small iterations: changing placeholder buttons into real links, reorganizing cards, adding new pages, adjusting mobile behavior, fixing image sizing, replacing the wrong artwork, tightening the calculator, cleaning up research posts, and improving the carousels. That process fits the spirit of Tiny House News itself: practical, patient, experimental, and focused on making the path clearer one step at a time.
